Yesterday my little brother called because a stranger, a worker at a bakery told him that he really reminded her of a friend and that he's nearly identical to this friend she has, and said my name. Turns out she's the lady from the secondhand book cart I used to live next to and befriended her while walking by nearly every day, but then I moved and she switched jobs and I haven't seen her in months and I've been wondering how she's doing every time I shopped at a book cart and apparently she remembers my name too and thinks of me as a dear friend. Idk it just made me happy and I feel like there's a poem to write here but I'm not very good with words

i got stuck in a metro elevator today for over a half hour like in between the platform and the street. funniest shit, i was on the middle elevator and they have glass walls, so i can see people going up and down on either side of me and staring confused when they notice me

fire department has to come and rescue me, and im just chilling in this box thankfully by myself as it jerks around until they finally get me to street level and spend another five minutes breaking the door open. i get out and they hand me a water bottle and keep asking how i am. im like guys, im fine im just gonna go get coffee and go to work

one of the responders insists on buying my coffee, and as we’re walking to the coffee shop he again checks in and i say something like “i mean, i’ve been coming here almost every day for like four years so it’s about time something like that happened”

i guess that wasn’t what he expected because this guy looks at me super concerned and extremely seriously says “that is not a normal thing to say” and like what are you supposed to say to that so i just fuckin shrug and keep walking

the problem with philadelphia is that even though the city itself is cool with a lot to offer, a lot of jobs are in the suburbs. philadephia is often compared to new york city and chicago in its urban fabric and while that part is true, in both nyc and chicago the jobs are overall still pretty centralized in the CBD... i wouldn't be against living in philadelphia, but it would really suck to move there and have to search for a job you can get to without a car (vs nyc or chicago where it's not hard at all).
